Riverland Generations in partnership with the Mower County Senior Center will present the Project GO (Golden Opportunities) Job Fair on Wednesday March 18, at the Mower County Senior Center in Austin from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Project GO is a program to engage elders who seek paid and unpaid work opportunities. The Golden Opportunities Job Fair is a chance for businesses to showcase and promote these opportunities to Baby Boomers ages 55 and older.
Golden Opportunities Job Fair booths may be reserved by contacting Kim Byam at Riverland Community College, 433-0510 or 800-247-5039. A booth package includes one six-foot table, up to three chairs and a business name sign. Food will be available for purchase on site.
Project GO was developed by Riverland Generations, a personal education experience designed for the mature learner to inspire learning for living. Generations programming is tailored to the interests of participants ages 55 and over. Project GO is designed to forge strong partnerships in the business community to develop a model program that brings businesses and active learners together to learn about mutually beneficial opportunities. Project GO is funded, in part, by an Engaged Elders Grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation.
Currently, Project GO is working with business partners in Freeborn, Mower and Steele counties to identify the best jobs for the senior audience. In conjunction, KSMQ Public Television will produce a 30-minute documentary featuring the experiences of the business partners and workers.
