The Mower County Free Fair Web site was selected as "Best Website" in the Communications-Website Division at the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs annual convention in January. The Web site was designed by Becky Dibble owner of Studio Ten Design based in Austin. Dibble has a Web Design certificate from Riverland Community College.
"Our board was awfully proud to receive the award," said John Mueller, president of the Mower County Fair Board. "We contacted Studio Ten Design and after one meeting we knew we were on the right track. In our minds, it is Becky's award."
The new site design incorporates the grandstand, show arena, Crane Pavilion and the midway. It also depicts the nearby AUSTIN water tower. This will help out-of-town guests locate the grounds. A contest judge, who is also a Web designer, commented that the site was extremely user-friendly.
"I was very honored to have contributed to this award for the Mower County Fair and my thanks go to the fair board and John Mueller and his wife, Dawn, for submitting the site to the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs," said Becky Dibble. "When designing the site, I wanted it to clearly reflect our community and be an easy-to-use resource for people."
The Web site is www.mowercountyfair.com. The 125th Mower County Free Fair is scheduled for August 11 to 16, 2009. However, the Web site is not only for fair week. It is updated as often as needed to showcase other events on the grounds such as the National Barrow Show, Minnesota In May BBQ State Championship, horse shows, circuses, and auctions.
The Riverland Web Design certificate teaches students the skills needed to create professional Web pages. Instructors provide plenty of individual attention through a combination of online learning and assessment, plus hands-on interactive training in a state-of-the-art simulated computer laboratory environment.
Studio Ten Design specializes in realtors, small- to medium-sized businesses, organizations and personal Web sites. Sites are custom designed and personalized to the needs and ideas of clients. The company also maintains and updates Web pages on a regular basis, or as needed. For more information to to www.studiotendesign.com.
