Riverland Community College's James Wegner Art Gallery is currently featuring paintings by Austin artist Eva Deli. Deli?s figurative works have been influenced by Matisse, but she has introduced her own expressionistic elements creating a unique effect. The show will be on display through Friday, February 13.
"I work in the technical tradition of easel painting to create abstract beauty, patterns, and order using figurative elements," said Deli. "To develop a new artistic language when presenting the three dimensional objects on the canvas, I often distort the form deliberately; looking for the inner order of things. With distortion, deeper harmonies that are inherent in the visual experience emerge, producing rhythmic symphonies of color."
The Riverland James Wegner Art Gallery features a diverse mix of student, community and professional artist work, traveling shows and the like. It is located on the Austin Campus in the West Building. Gallery hours are: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Riverland Art Instructor Tim Jones, Deli is a local treasure.
"Seeing this colorful show is the perfect way to fight winter blues," said Jones. "It's also a good way to appreciate the talent that exists in our area."
