Riverland Community College is pleased to host the 2010 Multicultural College Fair (formerly the Chicano Latino College Fair)!

On-line registration will begin on October 15th and continue until 8:00 a.m December 2, 2010.

Each participant will be able to attend two career sessions of their choice, plus attend a special session to visit with college representatives from Minnesota colleges. There will be limits on the number of participants in each session.

Registration for the day will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Frank W. Bridges Theatre Lobby in the East building. Welcome begins at 9:00 a.m.

Business

Business

A career in business offers many paths to success. You can choose from management and marketing, international business, economics, entrepreneurship, human resource and much more. Your degree could be applied to nearly any industry and can also be used to help you start your own business. There is a need for Business majors to apply their skills in the areas of health care, non-profit organizations, government as well as in the arts and entertainment. The workshop presenter is Dan Hernandez, Director of Innovation at Hormel Foods Corporation. He is in charge of developing distinctive new products that help bolster this International company's portfolio of flavorful and quality products.

Law Enforcement

There is more to a law enforcement career than just police work! This career area is becoming more complex and nearly every job requires additional college education and training. Graduates of law enforcement programs can become entry-level public or private security officers, security guards, corrections officers, or private bodyguards. There are many new jobs related to fighting crime and increasing security. Pete Ortega, Minnesota Highway Patrol, will share his experiences and answer your questions about law enforcement careers.

Minnesota Workforce Development Inc. staff will give you the forecast for great careers in the region and the nation. WDI offers many services for job-seekers and can help you discover a career that fits your personality and interests.
Education

Education

Teaching is an awesome way to share your knowledge and change lives. We can all name a favorite teacher who made a difference in our lives. There are many, many careers for talented teachers. Classroom teaching in grades kindergarten through college is just one path. An education degree can lead to jobs as a corporate trainer; consultant; writer; researcher to name a few. University of Minnesota, Mankato faculty will share their love of teaching and learning with you in this session.

Health Careers

Health care careers are built on the desire to help other people. Professionals working in health care enjoy high wages and job security. America's population is aging, and the baby boomer generation will need more health care services in the years ahead. Nursing, Radiography and Ultrasound technicians, pharmacy technicians, dental hygienists and assistants, lab technicians are just a few of the options for health careers. There is also a high demand for physicians and physician's assistant.

Fine Arts

This session gives you an opportunity to meet artist Alonso Sierralta, and hear him speak about creating art and his work. Mr. Sierralta's work is currently on display in our gallery in the West Building. This session will be conducted in the art gallery! Art majors develop a solid background in arts education, creativity and skills in creating art. In addition to producing art, artists can pursue careers as art historians, arts managers, and arts educators.
