About BOSS Ride
- The first BOSS Ride was held on July 28, 2001.
- Al Bush, former faculty member, and Ron Wangen, current staff, at Riverland Community College (both of whom are bikers) thought it would be fun to plan a motorcycle ride to raise money for scholarships for Riverland Community College students.
- Riverland Community College students benefit from the scholarships. The scholarships help with tuition and other college-related expenses.
- Qualifications: Students interested in applying for the BOSS Ride Scholarship must complete a Riverland Community College Foundation Scholarship Application form. A $500 BOSS Ride Scholarship is awarded every fall semester. The deadline date for the 2008 fall scholarship application is June 1, 2008. Riverland Community College Foundation Scholarship Application forms are available at the Riverland Foundation Office, at student services stations on all three Riverland campuses (Albert Lea, Austin, and Owatonna), and on the Riverland Community College website at www.riverland.edu/scholarships/scholarships.cfm
- This year the BOSS Ride Committee has scheduled additional events in an effort to raise enough money to set up the BOSS Ride Endowed Scholarship. In December 2007, the committee sponsored the "Lites & Bites Traveling Tour" to raise additional funds for student scholarships. The BOSS Ride is sponsoring a concert on May 30 & 31, 2008; featuring Brian Christianson and Friends, a band from Nashville, Tennessee. The BOSS Ride Committee is also selling tickets for a hand-made quilt (biker's theme).
- The BOSS Ride Committee's goal is to raise $10,000+ with this year's events.
- The Biker's of Student Success (BOSS) Ride Committee members consists of Riverland Community College employees who are extremely dedicated to the success of Riverland students.
