Types of Financial Aid

 Grants

Grants are gift dollars that do not have to be repaid.

Federal Pell Grants range from $400 to $4,050 depending on a student's financial need and enrollment status.

State Grants are available for Minnesota residents who demonstrate financial need. Awards range from $300 to $5,495.

FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants) are available for very needy students. Awards generally range from $100 to $600.

Minnesota GI Bill - The Minnesota GI Bill program was established in 2007 to provide postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota veterans who served on or after September 11, 2001. Full-time undergraduate or graduate students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 per semester or term and part-time students may be eligible to receive up to $500 per semester or term.

Child Care - You might qualify for limited Child Care Grants, or assistance from agencies such as PIC or DRS.

 Workstudy
Workstudy - State and federal workstudy programs provide employment opportunities for students while they attend college. The wage is $8.00 per hour.

 Loans

Loan dollars must be repaid with interest by the student or borrower. Borrowing should be viewed as a last resort. Financial aid staff will work with you to minimize your student debt and maximize grant and work opportunities.

Stafford Loans are available to help meet your costs. A student may borrow up to $2,625 freshman year or $3,500 sophomore. Other loan programs are available for students who are not eligible for other types of financial aid
