What is Student Employment (Workstudy)?

Student employment is an excellent opportunity for students to earn extra money to pay for school related expenses and gain experience in an educational/work environment. There are many positions available both on and off campus in a variety of disciplines that require minimal experience and provide a flexible work schedule.

To be eligible for student employment, follow the easy steps listed below.
  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  This link opens in a new window

  • Receive Financial Aid Award Letter indicating work study eligibility.

  • Obtain a student employment position by contacting departments posted on the Riverland Community College web site.

  • Contact a Financial Aid representative to complete paperwork for payroll

  • Student employment workers MUST be admitted to the college and be enrolled for at least 6 credits each semester.

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the Financial Aid Office.

 Payment

Your supervisor will sign and submit your student employment time sheet. It is your responsibility to submit the time sheet in a timely manner to your supervisor. Included in your paper work obtained from a student services representative is a sheet that lists when time sheet are due and what dates payments will be made. Current rate of pay is $8.00 per hour.

Checks are mailed to students to the address listed on the ISRS system. Students also have the option of using direct deposit for their checks.

For DETAILED INFORMATION about student employment, see the Student Employment Handbook.
