2003 Inductee Kim Bass

Women's Volleyball, Basketball, Softball (1985-87)

Kim Bass, a 1985 graduate of Owatonna High School, was an eight-sport, letter winner. She was voted outstanding female athlete of the year as a junior and senior in high school and was inducted into the Owatonna High School Hall of Fame.

She participated in three sports at Austin Community College. As a freshman she was coached by Nancy Carroll in volleyball, where Kim started in as a spiker. In basketball, Bass played for Vel Moen her freshman year where she averaged 13 points per game, seven rebounds per game and had 51 steals. She helped guide the Lady Blue Devils to the state tournament. She was named to the All-Southern Division team and received honorable-mention All-State. In her sophomore year, under the guidance of Coach Oscar Haddorff, Kim averaged over 16 points per game, nine rebounds per game and had 44 steals. That year she was named All-Southern Division and second team All-State.

Softball was probably Bass's best sport. She played three positions in her two seasons; pitcher, catcher, and third baseman. Bass batted clean-up and was named to the All-Southern Division both seasons and was voted All-State in 1986-87, where she hit .495 (47 for 95). She went on to receive a B.S. Degree at St. Cloud State University. Kim currently resides in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
