Kim Bass, a 1985 graduate of Owatonna High School, was an eight-sport, letter winner. She was voted outstanding female athlete of the year as a junior and senior in high school and was inducted into the Owatonna High School Hall of Fame.
She participated in three sports at Austin Community College. As a freshman she was coached by Nancy Carroll in volleyball, where Kim started in as a spiker. In basketball, Bass played for Vel Moen her freshman year where she averaged 13 points per game, seven rebounds per game and had 51 steals. She helped guide the Lady Blue Devils to the state tournament. She was named to the All-Southern Division team and received honorable-mention All-State.
