Hall of Fame2003 Inductee Julie AndersonWomen's Basketball, Softball (1978-80) Julie Anderson graduated from Austin High School after an outstanding career as a six-sport letter-winner in basketball and softball. She continued her playing career at Austin Community College under the coaching of Dan Ball in softball and Vel Moen in basketball. She was one of the finest point guards ever to play for coach Moen. According to Moen, "She had great floor sense, but didn't shoot enough. Julie had the ability to score more, had she chosen to do so. She was a very unselfish player." In both of her seasons she lead her team to the state tournament. In softball, under Coach Ball, she played third base and pitched. Her sophomore year she led her team to the NJCAA Women's Fastpitch National Tournament and a fourth-place finish. Julie batted .323 and had a 6-3 mound record during her second season. Julie was an outstanding student and graduated with high honors at ACC. She went on to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business and a Master's in Business at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She continues to play basketball in the Minneapolis Recreational Leagues and lives in Castle Rock, Minnesota. Julie has five-year-old twins, Ruby and Sophie. They have a hobby farm and enjoy their horses and other animals. |
