Women's Golf
  • 1998 Region XIII Champions, 3rd in the Region in 1999, 4th in the Region in 2000.
  • 1998 Minnesota Community College Conference( MCCC) State runner up, MCCC 3rd place in 1999, MCCC 2nd place in 2000, MCCC 4th place in 2001, MCCC 2nd place in 2003. Qualified two women(Carissa Gabrielson and Alison Stutzman) for the NJCAA 2004 National Golf Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida in May.
  • Carissa Gabrielson received All-State, All-Region XIII and Academic All-America Honors in 2003-2004.
  • 2004 - Alison Stutzman finished fourth in the Regional and qualified for the 2005 NJCAA National Golf Championships.

Men's Golf
  • 1940-41 Coach Dominic Krezowski A seven meet season for the Austin Packer's golf team: Albert Lea(H and A), Rochester (H and A), Mason City (H and A) and at Concordia JC. They traveled with the tennis team and played "doubleheaders with the opposition. Golfers participating: Art Nelson, Kenneth Johnnel, Ed Decker, Duane Clough, Bob Gavin, Merlin Frank, Stan Jordan, Hugh Thompson, Herbert Gunderson. Season results were incomplete but they defeated Albert Lea JC their opening match 10-2 at Hillcrest Golf Course and defeated Rochester 9 ½ to 2 ½ at Soldiers field in its second match. Duluth was the state golf champions.
  • 1941-42 Coach Dominic Krezowski Only one meet score could be found on 5/18-42 in the Southern Minnesota Junior College competition at Soldiers Field in Rochester.. Austin finished 3rd to Rochester and Albert Lea. Leading the way was Harold Foley who shot an 85. Other scores were ; Martinson(86), Decker(91), Nelson(92, and Johnell (97).

  • 1947-48 SMJCC Champions Bob Stark- Captain . Keith Anderson-medalist (40-36-38=114). Bob Stark was 2nd with rounds of 35-41-39=115. (other Austin scores; Loren Mattson (40-39-42) = 121 and Don Dankert (50-46-41) = 137.

  • 1962-63 Coach Red Hastings, SMJCC-Runnerup (312). Larry Chesin Medalist with 70 at Soldiers Field in Rochester. Members; Glen Pike, Larry Chesin, Rosss Martin, and Tom Brown. Chesin and Pike were NJCAA national qualifiers in Joliet, Illinois. Chesin shot 79-74-71-75=299 and finished 18th in the nationals. Pike finished 40th and shot 85-85-78-76=324.
  • 1963-64 Coach Red Hastings. 12-1 SMJCC Champions (323 to runnerup Waldorf at 361). Glen Pike medalist (74), Larry Chesin-2nd(75). Three qualified for the NJCAA national tournament. Larry Chesin finished 18th (81-78-80-80), Dick Miller 25th (80-87-76-80) and Glen Pike 30th(81-84-84-86) in the NJCAA national tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan.(79 golfers in the field)
  • 1964-65 Coach Red Hastings SMJCC Champions , Region XIII Champions, Grand Rapids, Michigan for NJCAA National appearance. As a team they shot 1294(11th place out of 16 teams).Steve Hoag-314(23rd place), Dick Burroughs-322(38th), Gary Pratt-323(40th), Doug Gebhardt-335, Tom Smith-337.
  • 1965-66 Coach Red Hastings. 10-1 SMJCC Champions by one stroke over Rochester (Conference medalist-Doug Beghart), Region XIII Champions, Qualified in Miami Florida for NJCAA National appearance (Terry Nelsen, Dick Leimbach, Larry Libersky, Doug Gebhardt, Harold Peters, Tom Smith. Finished 21st of 26 teams (shot 696, 2 round totals). Nelsen had best score with 57th place (shot 87-81) in nationals.
  • 1966-67 Coach Jim Mittun Team qualified for NJCAA national championships in Miami, Florida and finished 20th out of 23(1316 four day total). Team consists of Dick Leimbek (86-82-81-76= 325, James Carothers (331), Donald Houff (333), Larry Hogrefe (348), and James Berthiaume (333).
  • 1967-68 Coach Jim Mittun SMJCC Champions. Region XIII Champions . Don Houff-4th in Region(shot 148) All-Region XIII- Austin finished 22nd of out 29 teams in Nationals(shot 1271). Don Houff tied for 84th(80-73-83-75=311) James Carothers(319), Dan Leimbeck(320), Robert L. Larson((330) and Leif Erickson(335).Nationals in Roswell, New Mexico.
  • 1968-69 Coach Jim Mittun SMJCC Champions, 43-1 record. Randy Nelson Medalist, Jon Stephenson runnerup . Austin CC Region XIII runnerup. Randy Nelson Region XIII runnerup. Randy Nelson and Jon Stephenson, All-Region XIII . NJCAA national golf championships in Roswell, New Mexico and finished 25th out 33 teams (1270). Jon Stephenson shot 78-80-71-75= 304 and good for 52nd out of 191 national competitors. Leif Erickson shot 320, Randy Nelson, 322, Brian Helland, 328, and Dan Leimbek 334.
  • 1969-70 Coach Jim Mittun 52-7 record. MJCAA-2nd . Region XIII Runnerup (621) to Lakewood JC( 595) . These two teams battled all year as the 1-2 finishers. Ron Appel, formerly from Austin is the coach at Lakewood. . Clark Cipra finished 3rd in Region tournament as he shot 74-72=146 Teammate scores; Randy Nelson (151), Dale Larson(157), Dave Heegard(161), and Brad King(170). Cipra also named Honor Athlete of the Year at Austin State Junior College.
  • 1970-71 Coach Jim Mittun Region-4th Cipra 2d place in Region with 152) qualified for NJCAA nationals in Flint, Michigan(shot 85-86-80-85=336; place 106 out of 147)

  • 1972-73 Coach Jim Mittun MJCAA-2nd Place, Region XIII-runnerup (635) out of 20 teams in Coon Rapids, MN. Lost to Rochester who shot 628. Carl Peterson, All-Region and finished 3rd, after losing in a 2nd place tie (both shot 154 by Carl lost in a playoff). The top team and 2 individuals qualified for the nationals in Rosewell, NM. Other team members and scores in the Region XIII; Rick Webber-157, Sam Hanson-163, Jim Neus 164, and Mike Selmecki-164. The winning team and the top 2 individual finishers competed in the national championships in Rosewell, New Mexico (Peterson just missed qualifying for the tourney).
  • 1973-74 Coach Jim Mittun MJCAA-2nd Region XIII runnerup (633) out of 18 teams. Ron Snater tied for medalist and took 3rd in playoff(156). John Edling (161) and Dan Hunter (170) also participated. Snater and Carl Peterson-4th (157) qualified for NJCAA nationals in Lehigh, Florida. Peterson shot 80-82=162 and Snater shot 75-82=157
  • 1974-75 Coach Jim Mittun NJCAA Region championships in West Salem, Wis. (7th out of 17 teams). Ron Snater was 7th in Region XIII(77-76=157) and qualified for NJCAA nationals in Hutchinson, Kansas. Snater shot 82-81=163 and did not make the cut.
  • 1975-76 Coach Jim Mittun 25-37. MJCAA & Region XIII-14th place.
  • 1976-77 Coach Jim Mittun MJCAA-3rd place John Heegard 3rd individually, NJCAA Region XIII-4th (19 teams). John Heegard -tied 4th place in Region (shot 150) and qualified for NJCAA nationals in Lehigh Acres, Florida (shot 82-87=189).

  • 1980-81 Coach Jim Mittun 8th-Region. Brian Janning 170, Matt Daniels-170, Reed Miller-171, Scott Banton-WD, Tom Clausen-176.
  • 1981-82 Coach Jim Mittun MCCC-2nd Place . Region XIII-runnerup (645) out of 17 teams, won by Normandale who shot 642. Doug Koch-Region XIII medalist (145) and Joe Allen (157)-(4th in region). Koch and Allen were All-Region XIII and qualified for NJCAA nationals in McCormack Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ (top team and 5 individuals qualified). Koch and Allen both missed the cut, Koch only by 2 shots. Kyle Gordan, an Austinite playing for Temple JC (Texas) made the cut. Other members of team and their scores in the region tourney: Robert Brabbit (165), Gregory Jahr (180), Nathan Schmidt(176)
  • 1982-83 No Golf this season.
  • 1983-84 Coach Jim Mittun 3-17 9th-region. Eric Swenson (178), Al Wilhelm (192), Steve Michels (178), Scott Weichmann (220), Duane Wiste-no score. Other members were: Rodney Harvey, Trent Miller, Tim O'Conner, Todd Towne, and William Stephenson.
  • 1984-85 Coach Jim Mittun No region score. Todd Thompson (173), Eric Swenson (174), Gregg Tett (212), and AL Wilhelm (one day score-97)
  • 1985-86 Coach Jim Mittun MCCC-2nd Place (lost by one stroke-shot 640) Region XIII-runnerup @ Rochester. Tom Nyberg, All-MCCC & All-Region XIII (shot 75-71=146)
  • 1986-87 Coach Jim Mittun MCCC State Champions (623), Region XIII Champions (tourney in Rochester), Randy Lenoch (1st-152) Kent Porter (3rd-156), Joe Bartholemew (4th-159) Brian Haldorson (4th - 159), and Darrin Smith were All-Region XIII golfers. Advanced to NJCAA championships in Odessa, Texas. (RV blew up in Chiqashay, Oklahoma). Lenoch shot 76-76 and missed the cut along with the other 4 players. Other members were: Marc Brown, Charles Hazel, Charles Westrum and Terry Yanzer.
  • 1987-88 Coach Jim Mittun Region XIII-5th place as a team. Randy Lenoch (72-74=146) All-Region XIII (2nd place). He qualified for nationals at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. He shot 78-78 but missed the cut. Other members; Tom Winkels, Kent Porter, Troy Nichols, John Sucha , Scott Georgen
  • 1988-89 Coach Jim Mittun 27-17 MCCC-5th Region-6th. Jeff Boysen, Joe Frank, Terry Yanzer, Stewart Brody, Aaron Hoefs, Mike Ressler, Robert Johnson.
  • 1989-90 Coach Jim Mittun Matt Bundy, Aaron Hoefs, Robert Johnson, Richard Shatek, Shawn Walton.
  • 1990-91 Coach Jim Mittun MCCC State Champions, Region XIII-runnerup Brian Knudsen NJCCA National Qualifier at Green Tree Country Club in Midland , Texas (finished 23rd).
  • 1991-92 Coach Phil Bundy MCCC Champions (Cory Renchin, Tim Haldorson, Kirk Petersen, Mark Severson, and Ryan Brandt); Region XIII-runner-up . Ryan Brandt, All-Region (qualified, 76-77=153) and NJCAA National Qualifier at Jekyll Island, Georgia .
  • 1992-93 Coach Phil Bundy 4th- Region, 4th-state. Kirk Petersen, Mike Balk, Scott Handke, Rod Wilson, Jeff Bawek, Others on the team were: Josh Proedhehl.

  • 1996-97 Coach David Lillemon 3rd-State. Austin Country Club hosted the Region. 5th in Region ( top five qualified for state ( Shannon Dohlmon finished 9th(169). John Hetten(185), Tim Robertson (169), Ryan Row(187), and Beau Twaddle(194).
  • 1997-98 Coach David Lillemon. 3rd-state. Austin Country Club hosted the Region- Incomplete score . Chad Mickelson, tied for MCCC medalist (158 @ Austin Country Club) and All-Region XIII (tied for medalist). NJCAA National Qualifier at Woodlake Country Club in Vass, North Carolina. Chad was the NJCAA Longest Drive Contest Winner. (shot 91-75-93-91) . Other members; Josh Usgaard (159), Brian White(DQ), Shannon Dohlman (169), Ryan Hanson( 192).
  • 1998-99 Coach David Lillemon . First Fall season for golf. Austin Country Club hosted the Region tournament. Region XIII 3rd Place, 4th State . Josh Usgaard-2nd place Region (158) & NJCAA National Qualifier finished 22nd -shot 313 (83-76-75-79) at Riverwood Golf Club in Louisberg, North Carolina. Other members; Chad Mikelson (173), Mike Willford (176), Brian White (174, and Ryan Hanson (179)
  • 1999-00 Coach David Lillemon Region 3rd Place (out of 14 teams)Hosted by Mankato. 3rd-state Mike Willford, All-Region XIII (11th place) & NJCAA National Qualifier at Chautauqua golf Club in Jamestown, NY. He shot (81-82-87- 83=333 ) and finished 49th. *Chad Wolfe finished 9th place in the Region and qualified for NJCAA nationals but did not attend second semester school. Other members; Dustin McCabe, Pat Jilek, and Wade Kolander, Nathan Cline, Garrett Ulrich, Bo Mortenson.
  • 2000-01 Coach David Lillemon Region 6th ,State -4th Justin Bennett, All-Region XIII (4th individually-153 and hole in one at Mankato Country Club) and NJCAA National Qualifier in Chautauqua Golf Club in Jamestown, NY. Bennet-24th place-shot 309 (78-74-78-79). He also finished 2nd in the state individually. Other members; Pat Jilek, Joe Huffman, Ryan Nelson, Matt Breuer, Nate Wayne, and Ben Maas, Dana Strom.
  • 2001-02 Coach David Lillemon Region 5th, State-4th Jeff Clark (159), finished 11th but qualified later in the spring) and Justin Bennett (3rd in region with 151 score), All-Region XIII & NJCAA National Qualifiers. Jeff 6th place-shot 77-75-76-77=305(2nd team All-American) and Justin shot (79-78-80-77)=314 and finished tied for 19th out of 100 competitors at the Chautauqua Golf Club in Jamestown, NY. Other members; Pat King, Cole Burhow, Jared More, Joe Hewitt, Jake Bettis, Andy Erichson, Nate Wayne.
  • 2002-03 Coach David Lillemon 3rd-state and 4th-Region out of 16 teams. Jeff Clark (finished 2nd -shot 151 & Joe Hewitt (shot 164) finished 9th. All-Region XIII & NJCAA National Qualifiers. Clark-27th place (shot 81-78-78-77=314) Hewitt 74th place (86-84-86-78=334) out of 101 players at Chautauqua Golf Club in Jamestown, NY. Other members: Brett Wuerflein, Andy Routh, Grady Rider, Shane Tieskoetter, Jason Hubly, Joe Hewitt, Curt Peterson, Jake Bettis.
  • 2003-04 Coach David Lillemon Region-9th Dan Breuer, All-Region XIII (tied for 8th-158) & NJCAA National Qualifier at Chautauqua Golf Club in Jamestown, NY. Dan tied for 54th (76-82-82-82) = 322 out of 102 players. Other members: Shawn Cameron, Cody Nuernburg, Shane Tieskoetter, Matt Ball.
  • 2004-05 Coach David Lillemon State- tied for 3rd place with MN West. (10 teams) . Region-5th (out of 12 teams). Shot 341. Dan Breuer shot 161 and finished 11th. Participated in NJCAA National Championships in Chatauqua, NY and was ALL-AMERICAN as he finished tied for 8th place! 77-72-72-74 = 295. Dan was also a 4.00 student and received Distinguished Academic All-American Honors. Other members were: Kyle Fett, Pat King, Pate Korfhage, Justin Hicks, Alex Schilling and David Judd
  • 2005-06 Coach David Lillemon State-tied for 5th out of 10 teams. Region XIII finished tied for 7th out of 13 teams. Members of the team were : Bobby Gaulke, Matt Richter, Matt Bennett, Jake Blome, Vance Helgeland, Trevor King, Chad Smith, and Don Herbst.
  • 2006-07 The Blue Devils finished 5th out of 13 teams in the Region XIII tournament hosted by Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin. They would shoot 329-328=657. Brett Wuerflein shot a 156 to lead Riverland Community College and earned All-Region honors. He would finish tied for 11th in the individual competition. Riverland finished in 5th place in the MCCC state tournament. Members of the team were: Matt Bennett, Matt Schilling, Casey Vilt and Tyler Fett. Other members of the team were Eric Buntrock, Ben McCaulley, and Vance Helgeland.
  • 2005-06 MCCC 3rd Place
  • 2007-08 The Blue Devils did not field a team in the MCCC state and Region XIII tournament due to school conflicts. Darrick Bratten, a freshman from Owatonna, led Riverland Community College in the final meet of the fall season. Bratten shot a 98 but rebounded with an 87 in the two day event. Pete Thome and Isaac Van Proosdy were the other two men to compete. Other members of the team were: Kevin Schroeder, Matt Schilling, Lane Voight, Travis Fiebelkorn, and Eric Bontrock. Bratten was the low medalist all season and was voted MVP of the team. Schroeder earned the hardest worker and most improved awards.
